Some time ago, a photographer friend of mine told me- You should be a member of This is Reportage: Family. “What?” I asked him. What is it? This “This is Reportage”? Well, it is a community of documentary photographers who photograph weddings or families in a documentary way, without posing, only reflecting reality as it is, trying to bring out the emotions, beautiful moments and the affection of the family members.
Hmm … I thought. It might not be a bad idea. I did some research and I applied to be a part of this very inspiring community. After a few hours I got an email with information: You are accepted!
From this moment, I am part of the group of family documentary photographers. Which makes me very happy. But being a part of it, was not enough.
Not even 2 weeks passed when a competition was announced where photographers could participate by sending the best family photos and prizes were given to the most creative, beautiful and surprising pictures.
And although I have not been a family photographer for long, I decided to participate with the photos that seemed good enough to me.
I sent them and … silence. Choosing the best photos took a long time to the point that I forgot that I had participated.
Until a rainy day in December …
I got an email with wonderful news. “Your photos have received Awards! MY PICTURES! NOT one, SEVERAL of them!
Quickly I entered my profile at This is Reportage Family to see which of them have been recognized! And there they were !!!! These two photos have won the Award.
Of the 5000 photos sent, only 133 of them have been chosen. And two of them were mine. I couldn’t be happier 🙂 Especially because it was my first competition as a family documentary photographer.
This is Reportage: Family is a great community where you can always find inspiration 🙂
