We all know… it is COVID time, still a lot of borders are closed and still some people are afraid to travel. The world definitely changed for those whose passion is traveling. But still we can dream, right? Still we can image that we can go wherever we want, that there are no restrictions, that we don’t have to use masks, and that we don’t have to spend a fortune on the PCR tests. So I would like to share with you 8 places that I would visit if I could travel today freely. What country would be on my list? Here we go!
- CUBA
For sure, I would visit Cuba. This is the country that is on my travel list from a long time. You can ask… but why Cuba? Well… I would say- for its rich culture, history and music.
2. IRAN
Iran is a country in which there are major political, social and cultural changes. From the other hand, it is still a rather conservative country, faithful to tradition and very religious. This combination is very appealing. I would totally visit Iran for the amazing people (what I heard) and because of its raw landscapes. There is everything- from deserts to mountain passes, passing through islands and beaches. And still, not so touristic. Actually I will go there probably this year…
3. MONGOLIA
Probably you can ask… but WHY Mongolia? Well… Maybe it is not the most touristic place in the world but it has something amazing to offer- The Gobi Desert. Have you ever heard that the silence has a sound? In the the desert, yes. Because in Gobi there are “singing dunes”, called like that because of the sound they generate when they meet the wind. So yes, this is enough reason to visit Mongolia, don’t you think?
4. ICELAND
I’m not a big fan of cold places but for this one I will make an exception. The biggest reason to visit Iceland? I would say the unique landscapes and of course Northern lights. I believe that Iceland looks a little bit like a different world, like a fairytale. Maybe I would meet some elves?
5. SOCOTRA ISLAND
Maybe you don’t even hear about this island. Well… I know it also from not a long time. It is the largest of the four islands of the Socotra archipelago. The territory is officially part of Yemen. It is one of the most unspoiled islands in the world, totally not touristic and still very raw. The island is well known for its Dragon Blood Trees and its surreal landscapes full of towering sand dunes and deep canyons. However, it is still very expensive to get there.
6. ETHIOPIA
I have chosen Ethiopia because of 3 reasons: picturesque landscapes, delicious coffee, and its people. Ethiopia is a melting pot of different cultures, with over 80 ethnic groups and spoken languages. From the other side, Ethiopia meets the modern world with the tradition and raw landscapes.
7. INDIA
However I have already been to India, and I spent there 6 months I would say that I would love to come back. You can’t say that India is a different country. India is the whole different planet! They say- you can love it or hate it. There is nothing in between. I love India because of amazing people, because of delicious food, for chai, for the unique culture, for Benares, the holy city of the Hindus…. I would say more reasons to go because there are 1000 but probably the biggest one is- its energy is unique and special. No doubt!
8. MALDIVES
For sure, if I had to travel today, I would go to Maldives! Have you ever imagined the paradise? Probably it looked like Maldives. White sand, blue clean ocean and a slide directly to the water! So if you are looking for some relax, if you want to swim with the sharks, dive or just “be” in the paradise for some time- you should go to Maldives!
